Coaches report weekend 13/14 May 2017

Another great week for our Aranmore netball teams in perfect weather conditions.

ARANMORE TEAM GOLD

An improved effort by team Gold in their second game with better passing and more goals scored.  The girls will work on sticking with their player and  getting into space to receive a good pass.  Our player of the day was Alessia Infiri.  Well done Alessia!

ARANMORE TEAM SILVER

Well, another fantastic game from our newest netballers!! Unbelievable score of 14-1 against Churchlands. All of the kids tried their hardest to get into space to get a pass and to get their hands up in defence – this created a lot of opportunity for intercepts and turnovers. I also noticed a lot less stepping this week. Eden made some great leads in the centre court and Neve showed amazing determination in defence! Our star of the week award goes to Alyssa Lucano for her patience and accuracy in the goal circle.

ARANMORE ORANGE

Team Orange came away with a WIN on Friday night against Churchlands. They worked well together right to the last second of the game. The teamwork, effort and sportsmanship they showed was to be admired and they looked as though they were having lots of fun on court. With 4 shooters all contributing to goals it was a real team effort. Well done girls!

Coach Lisa

ARANMORE PURPLE

It was another beautiful day and the Purple Girls had to work hard right to the final whistle to get away with an 8-all draw against an evenly matched Deanmore team. Bethany Clarke was terrific in defence and was well supported by Jaime Burvill alongside her. The two managed to repel many of the Deanmore attacks to keep the Purple girls in the match. Isla Buttigieg worked hard in attack despite an injured knee and kept running hard all match. Once again all of the girls worked hard over the whole court and hopefully they will continue to do the same at training as we look to become better each week as the season goes on.

ARANMORE AQUA

Team Aqua came out blazing with 3 goals in a row after the first centre pass, but the Woodlands team didn’t give up and turned it around after a short time.  Our girls worked really well getting the centre pass quickly out to their players, and showed some strong attacking skills.  Although a loss to Team Aqua, as a new team coming together, the girls have shown great promise and we’re looking forward to working toward the next game.
