Anzac Prayer Service

Thank you to all the families who came to the Mt Hawthorn ANZAC Prayer Service during the holidays. It was a beautiful service and a special way in which the children could feel a real part of the wider community. It was terrific to see the children in their school uniforms. I was very proud of our Year Six representatives, Sienna McCagh and Henry Platt who laid a wreath on behalf of all the members of our school community. On Monday morning we held our own school ANZAC Day Prayer service which was led by the Pastoral Council and attended by specially invited guests Mr Lloyd Blake, Vice President of the Mt Hawthorn RSL and Mr John Carey MLA. We heard some inspiring words from local RSL members and stories about our local hero, Jack Axford. Jack was one of 17 Western Australians to receive the Victoria Cross. The children were exceptionally respectful and reverent during this time and represented the school superbly.
