Health and Physical Education

health-phys-edHealth and Physical Education provides students with an understanding of health issues and the skills needed for confident participation in sport and recreational activities. This enables students to make responsible decisions about health and physical activity and to promote their own and others’ health and well-being.

Physical Education and Sport is taught by a specialist teacher from Pre-Primary to Year 6. Pre-Kindy and Kindergarten teachers incorporate Health and Physical Education into their weekly programme focussing on the skills essential for early years development.

Annually students participate in intra-school faction and inter-school Athletics, Cross Country and Swimming carnivals (depending on their year group). Students from Pre-Primary – Year 6 also participate in swimming lessons organised by State Swim. The school factions of McAuley (blue), Mercy (gold), Moloney (green) and Arranmore (red) link to our school history.

Extra-curricular opportunities are also provided to join the Aranmore Swim Club and Aranmore Netball teams, as well as participate in before and after-school skills lessons/clinics for tennis and soccer.
